Position on the principles of JVMBBS’s editorial ethics
Editorial of JVMBBS responsible relates to support scientific reputation problems and does the best to ensure the quality of scientific publications.
Editorial guides by the recommendations and standards of the Committee on the Ethics of Scientific Publications (COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors), as well as takes into account valuable experience in reputable international journals and publishing. In these recommendations there are combined and disclosed the general principles and rules to be followed in their relations the participants of publications: authors, reviewers, editors, publishers, distributors and readers.
Editorial of the JVMBBS does the best to comply with ethical norms accepted by the international scientific community and to prevent any violations of these rules.
Main terms:
Ethics of scientific publications – is a system of rules of professional behavior in relations between authors, reviewers, editors, publishers and readers in the creation, distribution and use of scientific publications.
Editor-in-Chief – responsible for deciding which of the works submitted to the editorial should publish.
Author – is a person or group of persons (group of authors) who participate in the creation of the publication of the scientific research results.
Reviewer – is an expert who acts on behalf of a scientific journal or publisher and conducts scientific expertise of copyright materials to determine their possible publication.
Editorial of JVMBBS – editor, editorial board, technical editors.
Reader – any person who is acquainted with the published material.
Publisher – is legal or physical person who carries out the publication of scientific publications.
Plagiarism – is a deliberate appropriation of authorship of foreign work of art or science, foreign ideas or inventions. Plagiarism may be a violation of copyright law and patent law legislation and as such may result in legal liability.
Duties of Editor-in-Chief
Editor in Chief is responsible for deciding which of the works submitted to the editorial of JVMBBS can be published. This decision should be made based on the validation work and its importance for researchers and readers. When deciding on publication Editor in Chief may consult with members of the Editorial Board or reviewers (or members of research teams).
Editor in Chief should evaluate intellectual content of manuscripts, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, origin, nationality, social status or political affiliation of the authors.
Duties of reviewers
Reviewer provides scientific expertise of copyright material, resulting his actions should be of an impartial nature, which is performed by the following principles:
− manuscript received for review must be treated as a confidential document that can not be transferred for review and discussion to the third parties that do not have authority of editorial;
− reviewer must give objective and reasoned assessment of the results of study. Personal criticism of the author is unacceptable;
− unpublished data received from submitted manuscripts for consideration should not be used by reviewer for personal purposes;
− it is necessary to notify the editor in chief about the materials that have been published previously in this or any other publication, if any;
− reviewer who is not, in his opinion, qualified to assess manuscripts, or can not be objective, for example, in the case of a conflict of interest with the author or organization, must notify the editor to exclude him/her from the review of the manuscript.
Duties of authors
The author (or group of authors) recognizes that has personal responsibility for innovation and reliability of the results of scientific research, which suggests that the following principles:
− authors should provide materials for publication, designed according to the requirements for the articles in JVMBBS;
− authors should provide reliable results of the research. Clearly erroneous or falsified approvals are unacceptable;
− authors should ensure that research results contained in the work are entirely original. Borrowed fragments or statements should be prepared with the obligatory indication of the author and the source. Excessive borrowing and plagiarism in any form, including unformed quote, paraphrase or assignment of rights to the results of other people's research are unethical and unacceptable.
− it should recognize the contribution of all persons who are influenced the course of the study, in particular, the article must be submitted links to works that were important in the study.
− authors should not provide manuscript in journal sent to another journal and is under consideration, as well as an article previously published in another journal.
− when identification of significant errors in the publication, the author must immediately inform the editorial. Throughout the process of publication author shall cooperate with the editor and publisher, adding, shorting and correcting paper if necessary.
Duties of editorial of JVMBBS
Editorial of JVMBBS takes full responsibility for compliance with the principles in this position.
Editorial receives comments and suggestions to improve the quality of JVMBBS from readers.
Unpublished data received from submitted material shall not be used for personal purposes or transferred to third parties without the written consent of the author. Information or ideas generated during the editing must be kept confidential and will not be used for personal gain.
Editor in Chief and the editorial board of JVMBBS should take appropriate measures when receiving ethical complaints relatively submissions or published articles. These activities generally include notification and the complaints and, if necessary, recourse to specialized institutes and research organizations. In the case of confirmation of the validity of the complaint correction, retraction or other appropriate application are published. Each ethical complaint shall be considered, even when receiving in a few years after publication.
Editorial have the right to accept or reject the articles for publication in JVMBBS based on the opinion of the reviewers on relevance, originality, accuracy of the information contained in the article and its compliance with the subject of JVMBBS and editorial ethics principles adopted in the publication.
In the case of refusing to publish, authors have reported about the decline of articles and make recommendations to remedy the reasons why the article was rejected.
Authors are given an opportunity to appeal the decision of the editorial on the acceptance or rejection of the article.
